Gallagher started in New Zealand during the Depression years of the 1930’s when the Gallaghers were farmers. They developed animal control systems on the family farm to make farm work easier. It was a typical farmer’s approach to solving farm problems that helped them lead the world into the electric fencing age. Bill Gallagher (Senior) didn’t just invent electric fencing systems - he built home made tractors – the first was an old car fitted with iron-shod cleated wheels. It pulled a roller to flatten scrub that was then burnt.
